- Students who have completed a similar course from another institution of higher learning may apply for course exemption and/or credit transfer by submitting the application form to the host department via the Departmental Administrative staff at Registry Office before commencement of the academic year subject to scrutiny of individual course syllabi.
- For those students who are directly admitted to Year 2 or Year 3 of undergraduate programmes with the adoption of block-credit transfer by the host department, application for transfer of credits are normally not accepted, only application for course exemption will be accepted.
- In terms of "Credits Transfer", students will be exempted from taking a similar course offered by the University and course credits will be granted upon approval of application for credit transfer. Credits transferred from other institutions will be excluded from the calculation of Grade Point Average (GPA) in students’ academic record.
- In terms of "Course Exemption", students will be exempted from taking a similar course but credits are not granted upon approval of application for course exemption. They are required to take additional credits to complete the specified total number of credits for graduation.
- The transferred credits for a student should not exceed 12 (6 credits per semester) and the minimum enrolled credits for a fulltime undergraduate student should be 12 per semester.
- The application fee (non-refundable) for course exemption / credit transfer is HK$200.

The University has adopted Common Block Credit Transfer (CBCT) arrangement for the admission of AD/HD graduates articulating to Year 2. The CBCT framework for Year 2 Entry is as follows:
the no. of BCT for Year 2 Entry is equivalent to the no. of required credits in the Year 1 curriculum in the 4-year curriculum of the relevant HKSYU programme;
students will be required to complete CHI102 First Year Chinese II plus Core courses and Departmental elective credits (if any) in Year 2 to Year 4 curriculum, together with free elective credits to complete the total number of credits required for graduation.
students will be exempted from the General Education requirement.

Starting from academic year of 2020/21, the University has adopted Common Block Credit Transfer (CBCT) arrangement for the admission of AD/HD graduates articulating to Year 3. The CBCT framework for Year 3 Entry is as follows:
Students admitted directly to Year 3 must complete at least 50% of the total number of credits required for the award of the degree at HKSYU;
CBCT will be granted to an eligible AD/HD graduate who is designated as a Year 3 student upon admission. The maximum number of Block Credit Transfer for Year 3 Entry is 50% of the total credits required for completion of a programme;
Students admitted to Year 3 at the University will have all language courses and GE courses exempted with the exception of First Year Chinese II (4 credits) and English Writing II (3 credits). Students are required to complete and pass First Year Chinese II (4 credits) and English Writing II (3 credits) before graduation. Otherwise, their graduation may be delayed for up to one year;
Apart from language requirements, students will be required to complete the core courses and required credits for Departmental electives in the Year 3 to Year 4 curriculum of the HKSYU Bachelor’s degree, together with free elective credits to complete the total number of credits required for graduation.
